Proverbs 29:1-4

1 - He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck,
Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
2 - When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice;
But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
3 - Whoever loves wisdom makes his father rejoice,
But a companion of harlots wastes his wealth.
4 - The king establishes the land by justice,
But he who receives bribes overthrows it.

Pastor S.M. Davis

Pastor S.M. Davis talked about character, anger, and dating. The first was Freedom From the Spirit of Anger which is just one of the DVDs in the anger series. I think that every man has some level of anger that is shown to their children. When children are young the anger that is show to them is harbored in there hearts as bitterness. Davis says when the children are 15 or 16 the bitterness is displayed by rebelling. I need to protect my children

Christopher J. Klicka

Chris Klicka of HSLDA traveled from Virginia, and for most people that is not much of a challenge. For Chris this requires help and is exhausting because he as Multiple Sclerosis. It was amazing to see Chris standing and poring out his heart to us even though he could barely walk. What really hit me was how he knows his kids. Three times Chris emphasized how he spends an hour a week with each of his kids, which is one for every day of the week (that is 7 children). With confidence Chris said that he knows each one of his children's hearts, wow!!!

Once again I am challenged, I need to spend more time with my children so I can know them better. Actually, I don't just want to spend time with them and know them but to know there hearts. Can you say that you know each of your children

Marv Munyon

Marv Munyon has spoken at the last couple of Wisconsin CHEA conventions that I have attended. Every time I feel convicted for not participating in politics more. The great thing about Marv is that he gives you the facts and his opinion (with the scriptures to support). I like WI Capitol Watch for the bill information and the voting record for each. The US Senate has a history voting also.

Quick Elementer 2.0

Updated version of Quick Elementer is now available.

Quick Elementer can now copy documents and have dependancies on other Quick Elementers in addition to Quick Elementer 1.1 features- copy elements and inherit elements on the same document. Each component that can make up a Quick Elementer will be displayed on a tab.

The Quick Elementer form

Inherit design Tab

Each of the design elements in the inherit list will have the design element's 'Master Template' field set to the master template name of the current database after it is copied to the destination database. You can sort the design elements base on the type of design or the design element name for each of the lists. There is also an option to limit the available design elements by type.
Quick Elementer Form 2.0 Inherit

Copy design Tab

The copy is very similar to the Inherit tab, but when copied to the destination database the 'Master Template' field will not be set. You can sort the design elements base on the type of design or the design element name for each of the lists. There is also an option to limit the available design elements by type.

Elementer Dependancy Tab

Dependancies will reduced the number of design elements that need to be selected for each Quick Elementer. When implementing a Quick Elementer all elementer dependancies will also be implemented. Use the 'Select Elementer Dependancy' option to select Quick Elementers form the Quick Elementer view.
Quick Elementer Form 2.0 Dependancy

Documnets Tab

Any document should be allowed to be copied not just Quick Elementers so the selecting of documents will be generic. The first step is to select the view that contains the document that needs to be copied. The second step is to select 'Select Documents'. Then Quick Elementer will prompt for which field should be used to describe the document. The view and the document unique ID will also be appended to the document description.

The Quick Elementer view

The view lists the design elements that are apart of the module following the following codes:

  • I - Inherit design
  • C- Copy design
  • E- Elementer dependancy
  • D- Documents

The 'Copy Elementer to Database' will prompt for a destination database and will implement the Quick Elementer as defined along with all dependancies.

Joyce Herzog

Joyce Herzog helped me realize what learning is like for a child. Joyce asked everyone to clean off our laps and gave us her business card. She then asked us not to do anything to the cards until all the instructions where given. Instruction #1 was to write on the back of the card the city and state (in cursive) we were in and today's date. The conference was being held at Olympia Resort & Conference Center which is located in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Instruction #2 was to place the business card on your forehead with the back facing out, now things are getting a little tough. The final instruction was to remember what your are thinking.

The exercise for me was not as challenging because I had already taught myself to write backwards in college. Try writing your name backwards and see how easy it is.
Chad Backwards

This was a little different because I could not even see what I was writing. Here is what the card looked like (never got a chance to write the date).
Oconomowoc Backwards

Three simple instructions, but it was not easy to accomplish. Here is something to remember.

An easy task for an 'expert' is very complex for a 'beginner'.

Wisconsin CHEA

My wife and I attended Wisconsin CHEA convention and it was great! Every spring conference there is a used book sale where home school families sell books and supplies they no longer need. We were able to find about 75% of the material that we need for next year. As usual the speakers where great. There were four key note speakers Pastor S.M. Davis, Christopher J. Klicka of HSLDA, Marv Munyon, and Joyce Herzog.

Throughout this week I will be writing about each of the speakers.

My Google

I have been using Google Search History which has come to my rescue a couple of times. Now there seems to be a My Google. Currently there is only 12 items to show, which is a nice start but some what limited. The ability to "Drag and drop to rearrange the page" is very nice.

Quick Elementer 2.0 Update

I have taken some of Dave's ideas and incorporated them into version 2.0. Here is what the new form will look like.

Quick Elementer 2.0 Update

The Quick Elementer is and always will be designed for developers, so when it comes to selecting documents I am showing the document UNID (an easy tool to find the UNID) so it will be easy to determine why a document is not being copied to the destination database.  As you see the foot print is still a view, a form and a script library, which is one of my goals because I will be using this tool in multiple library templates.  The document information will be based on the value of a field that you will be selecting ( the prompt on the documents tab image) and the view that it was selected from along with the UNID.

As you can see you input is always welcomed.

Are they moving?

I had visitor searching for chad on ninemsn.com.au. I found that I was ranked #4 on ninemsn, while I was there I stumpled on to Chad Miller's blog. What caught my eye was the circles. I had to look at the source to determine if they are moving? Without looking do you think they are moving?
