ChadSmiley Blog Things about family, life, coding, and more

20Feb/104

The Time has come…

to move on, I have been learning PHP for about 6 months and have not done any Notes/Domino development for a couple of years. I have converted my blog to WordPress so I am sure some things will be lost or missing so if you need something please let me know. I hope to blog more about what I am doing but I just have not made the time to do it.

A little update about life: I have been doing my share of computer work on the side the last year and web development (just static pages). The kids have been keeping us busy, we now have a teenager, that seems a little wired but life must continue. I got a camcorder for Christmas!!!!, so hopefully some posts about that. I also am looking for some good but not expensive editing software, any suggestions welcomed. We took a family vacation to PA in the fall and that was awesome. We got to got to NYC and Washington DC. There is more but that would take away form some possible posts.

  1. Great new design! I am looking forward to see some PHP code on your site!

  2. I just ran into your site, and wondered why you converted your blog into wordpress, because I am actually just thinking of converting my php site into something more fancy (Notes/Domino)… so it would be nice to hear why you migrated off from the platform Domino.

  3. I am no longer doing Domino development, and have not for a couple of years. I am now doing web development using PHP for my day job and I also web development on the side so this was a good fit for my career. Having a linux based server with PHP opens many more doors for me to work with. Yes, I do miss Domino and it was nice that everything was in one database and design.

  4. Hey Chad. This is Steve McDonald. I bumped into your site from facebook. I too made the PHP jump a few years ago and am loving it. I still touch .NET from time to time but over the last, say, 3 years it has mostly been PHP on the back-end. have you investigated Drupal at all yet? I have been doing Drupal for a few years now and it is amazing. My site, enginpost.com, is in Drupal.

Anyway, I like the streamlined site.
