Pastor S.M. Davis
Pastor S.M. Davis talked about character, anger, and dating. The first was Freedom From the Spirit of Anger which is just one of the DVDs in the anger series. I think that every man has some level of anger that is shown to their children. When children are young the anger that is show to them is harbored in there hearts as bitterness. Davis says when the children are 15 or 16 the bitterness is displayed by rebelling. I need to protect my children
Christopher J. Klicka
Chris Klicka of HSLDA traveled from Virginia, and for most people that is not much of a challenge. For Chris this requires help and is exhausting because he as Multiple Sclerosis. It was amazing to see Chris standing and poring out his heart to us even though he could barely walk. What really hit me was how he knows his kids. Three times Chris emphasized how he spends an hour a week with each of his kids, which is one for every day of the week (that is 7 children). With confidence Chris said that he knows each one of his children's hearts, wow!!!
Once again I am challenged, I need to spend more time with my children so I can know them better. Actually, I don't just want to spend time with them and know them but to know there hearts. Can you say that you know each of your children
Marv Munyon
Marv Munyon has spoken at the last couple of Wisconsin CHEA conventions that I have attended. Every time I feel convicted for not participating in politics more. The great thing about Marv is that he gives you the facts and his opinion (with the scriptures to support). I like WI Capitol Watch for the bill information and the voting record for each. The US Senate has a history voting also.
Joyce Herzog
Joyce Herzog helped me realize what learning is like for a child. Joyce asked everyone to clean off our laps and gave us her business card. She then asked us not to do anything to the cards until all the instructions where given. Instruction #1 was to write on the back of the card the city and state (in cursive) we were in and today's date. The conference was being held at Olympia Resort & Conference Center which is located in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Instruction #2 was to place the business card on your forehead with the back facing out, now things are getting a little tough. The final instruction was to remember what your are thinking.
The exercise for me was not as challenging because I had already taught myself to write backwards in college. Try writing your name backwards and see how easy it is.

This was a little different because I could not even see what I was writing. Here is what the card looked like (never got a chance to write the date).
Three simple instructions, but it was not easy to accomplish. Here is something to remember.
Wisconsin CHEA
My wife and I attended Wisconsin CHEA convention and it was great! Every spring conference there is a used book sale where home school families sell books and supplies they no longer need. We were able to find about 75% of the material that we need for next year. As usual the speakers where great. There were four key note speakers Pastor S.M. Davis, Christopher J. Klicka of HSLDA, Marv Munyon, and Joyce Herzog.
Throughout this week I will be writing about each of the speakers.
